Zoo Field Trip

I got to go with the fourth grade class field trip to the zoo last week. The weather was beautiful and the kids had lots of fun! And I got all the kids I was responsible for back on the bus!

Mehndi

The girls pestered Daddy the other day at the Indian store and he bought them a tube of henna to do Mehndi on our hands.

Girl Scouts Rain Barrel

Katie's girl scout troop bought and decorated a rain barrel for the outdoor learning center. It is part of their lessons on being environmentally responsible.

Completed Fence

In 2011, we replaced almost half of our fence. We knew the second half was coming, and with that big storm in December, it blew it down. The nice thing though is that it looks like our insurance will be paying for it and they also want us to replace the roof. They did a good job, and the only problem is the new stain isn't matching, so we are trying to get them out to re-stain it and they don't want to come for just that since I paid them for the fence and only withheld $300 for the re-staining. Hopefully, we can drag them back here soon.

Christmas 2012

This year for Christmas, we waited Christmas for family to come into town. We had a great time and it was worth the wait.

Grandma got the girls a very special surprise...

A real piano to practice on! It is actually an electric piano that sounds just like a regular piano. But it can do more stuff and it doesn't weigh as much!

Then we enjoyed a nice dinner. Since neither of us really like turkey or ham that much we decided to try a roast this year. It was delicious and we may have started a tradition!

After dinner, Theo read the Christmas story, then we opened gifts.

In our house, we take turns opening presents, and we choose a carol to sing before we pick a gift to open. Apparently Grandpa sang too loudly.

Katie and Lizzy each got a cute animal sweatshirt.

Katie got a new camera she has been hoping for. And I got the protection plan in case it is dropped. I am sure we will get our $7 out of that!

Theo got me a pretty new pair of earrings!

Lizzy got a Barbie Dream House. She has been begging for one for awhile now. We were lucky and got it from a friend who was giving away her daughter's after she outgrew it! I put all the pieces in a big bag and then told her to go get a big box out of the closet to put them all in.

She was very excited when she saw the "box".

Grandma got Grandpa a much needed bib!

We got all of the grandparents a photo book for Christmas. We had ordered one for Grandma in India and it turned out so pretty that we ordered one for everyone. I even found a sale so I could get the bigger size!

My gift to Theo was a new smartphone. He'll finally have to give up his trusty, old $10 Nokia phone.

Lizzy is now sleeping with her boyfriend!

Playing a song on the new piano!
