Mehindi

Since they are out of school for the summer, I let them do mehindi on their hands.

It took a long time to paint and even longer to dry.

The minute I turned my back on them to get lunch, they started picking it off before it was quite dry, so it didn't turn out as dark as it should have but it is very pretty.

Aunt Mercy and Uncle Deen's visit

Uncle Deen and Aunt Mercy came down for Katie's Baptism, but we had a lot of fun with them before it.

We enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July with some of Deen's family.

Aunt Mercy brought the three of us some beautiful outfits from India.

And some shots from the airport just before they left. We hope to see them again soon!

Mehndi

The girls pestered Daddy the other day at the Indian store and he bought them a tube of henna to do Mehndi on our hands.

Diwali Mela

Last night, we went to the Dewali Mela at Fair Park. The weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time.

First, we let the girls ride the elephant before it got to dark to get pictures.

One of the booths was doing face painting.

We watched the Ramayana acted out.

It was very crowded because the weather was so nice everyone came out.

Then we watched some Indian pop star. Theo wasn't "hip" enough to know who he is but we still enjoyed the music.

Happy Diwali!

We went to the 5th Annual Diwali Mela in Dallas on Saturday. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. We had lots of fun, ate some yummy samosas and dosais, rode an elephant, and watched the Ramayana reenactment.

The Kraken - Enter if you dare! - The girls chose to buy a wristband for the bounce houses instead of a camel ride.

Wheeeee!

My turn to ride this year!

How do you get off this thing?

She did it! For a split second.
Now, she's ready to try this.

Got the girls some pretty bindis.

We kept waiting for a special Bollywood singer to perform, but it got too late and we had to head home. Maybe next year.
