Trip to Austin 2015

The girls and I went for a mini-vacation to Austin to see our friends and do some fun tourist stuff.

Our first stop was the Blue Hole. It was absolutely gorgeous! The water was so clear that I could see my feet.

We enjoyed watching the teenagers cliff dive while being thankful that our children are still too little.

This area is about 3 feet deep, except for a 6 foot surprise trench in the middle. A very surprise trench.

Next day, we hit the capital.

And on to weird South Congress Avenue.

We enjoyed some famous Amy's Ice Cream.

The girls posed with this sign that didn't remind us of anything at all.

I can feel the love...

You can't pass up lemonade from a giant lemon.

We went to Congress avenue to wait for the bats but I guess no one told them they were supposed to fly every night. Guess that's something for next time.

Our last day there we canoed down the river towards downtown. Our apologies to the four other kayaks we bumped into.

Me in my cool visor.

After a hot canoe ride, we cooled off in Barton Springs. Brrr! It is a constant 68 degrees and beautiful.

We had a great trip but it's good to be back home.

Girl Scout UnCamp Out

Our Girl Scouts were just not meant to camp out this year. We had to cancel camp twice because it was flooded and then we gave up and decided to have a backyard camp out. But then it was supposed to rain at midnight so we decided to sleep in. Then, just as we finished the hotdogs, everyone had to run inside fast because a sudden storm blew up. It was raining sideways, lightening, and hailing.

So they came inside and watched movies and played sardines.

Since it was still pouring outside we got inventive and created stove smores. 13 girls, 30 stove smores, and only one marshmallow caught on fire and was given a fast screaming tour of the kitchen. Not bad.

Not as campy, but still just as yummy!

They finally settled down a bit. I gave up and went to bed at 12:30 and still heard some giggling.

But thankfully, everyone was up at 6:30 ready for pancakes!

It was a beautiful morning so they hit the pool.
