2012 Christmas Decorations

2012 Christmas Decorations

Last year, our lights were a burnt out mess, so I tossed a bunch. So this year, we replaced many of them with LED lights. We are hoping to see a reduction in our power bill. We also added a sweet blow up bear.

I couldn't find Theo and my stockings this year, so we aren't expecting a lot from Santa. But the kids and even Jackie are hoping for some goodies!

I found some battery operated LED lights for our chandelier. They make it look so much prettier than just with the greenery. If the batteries last a decent amount of time, I am excited to get some more to light up more areas without plugins!

One of my favorite Christmas decorations is this beautiful white Nativity I found at Good Will for $2! I also love this angel nativity.

This year, even the car got in on the action. Why else would they put a plug-in in the car?

Jackie is feeling Christmasy with her big red bow.

Kansas City

For Thanksgiving, we went to Kansas to see family and we took a trip to see the Kansas city plaza. We all enjoyed a dinner at the melting pot to celebrate Lizzy's birthday, followed by enjoying the lights.

Lizzy got bribed with a dollar to eat a shrimp and was a sweet girl and put it in the kettle.

Katie's Texas Performance

Katie had her fourth grade Texas History Program a few weeks ago. She did great and we were proud of her.

At the end, they all spread out around the gymnasium and we just got lucky that Katie got to dance right beside us. We really enjoyed their Cotton-Eyed Joe dance.

Family Portraits 2012

This year, we were due for family portraits. There is nothing more miserable than getting family portraits taken at a studio. So we called Megan Eidson Photography and asked her to meet us at the park for photos. She did an amazing job and it was so much more enjoyable than at a studio. The pictures turned out really great!

Chinese Lantern Festival

While we were at Fair Park for the Diwali Mela, we decided to take time to see the Chinese Lantern traveling exhibit.  We got half price tickets with our Diwali tickets so it made it reasonably priced and it was so pretty we were all glad we went. The lights were so beautiful and the girls had a lot of fun. Katie especially loved the pandas and the butterflies.
