Flooding in Plano

All May, it rained. We broke the record for the wettest May ever. Then, one night, we got over 6 inches of rain in one night! All of the parks near us are flood plains. They worked perfectly and held the flooding until the river could drain.

This is the trail near our house. It cleared out pretty quickly but it was very deep and moving fast for awhile. This is about 1/4 mile from our house.

We went back out that evening and it was dry. The girls did not believe me that the river had flooded so far until we found a fish on the sidewalk!

And a big picnic table 1/4 mile from where it used to be.

All this water was draining into Oak Point Pond. We drove over to check it out and found the creek had turned into rapids and the lake had taken over the park.

Oak Point Pond overflows into Bob Woodruff.
There is even another domed slide that was completely covered!

Walk in the Park

We had a very nice walk this evening and enjoyed seeing how the rain has affected Oak Point Park. I was having fun taking lots of pictures as we went. One of our favorite things about our house is living close enough to walk in the park now that they have put in the trails.

Beautiful sky

In the evenings, the sun shines on our house so it practically glows. This is always my favorite view of our house.

We found a crawfish. Of course, Theo wanted to poke it.
Lots of mud!

The creek is pretty full and flowing fast.

We saw a really long worm.

Of course, Theo and Lizzy had to poke it.
And Lizzy was able to hang it from a stick.
Look at how the grass has been flattened by the water.

The path was a bit damp.

This rather large puddle has formed.

The flowers, especially queen anne's lace are blooming beautifully.

Our house looks so pretty with the flag out front. With a donation, the Rotary club will place a flag in your yard for each patriotic holiday.

Girl Scouts evening hike

Last night, we went on an evening hike with Girl Scouts. It was beautiful. The weather was perfect. We have been getting lots of rain so it was wet, but not flooded.

Oak Point Pond is very full!

This tree was hanging out over the creek after it fell.

Racoon tracks in the mud.

The creek was beautiful. Nice and full after all the rain.

The girls all had fun walking in the mud.
