In July, we took a family road trip to Colorado. Our first stop was Amarillo. We spent two nights there and really enjoyed it.

Our first excursion was a jeep tour of Palo Duro Canyon. It is a beautiful state park, but this is on private land. We really enjoyed the tour.

After the tour we went to the Big Texan restaurant for lunch. This restaurant is famous for giving away free steak. If you can eat this entire meal, including a 4 1/2 pound steak in an hour, you can get it for free.
You have to sit at this special table in the center of the restaurant. We decided to just have a regular steak, which was delicious.
The food arrived with a decorative jalapeno with a Texas mini toothpick flag stuck in it. Katie decided to be sneaky and dig out a spicy jalapeno seed and stick it in her sister's cake. Well, her sister ate it and didn't even notice it. But later, in the parking lot, Katie wiped her finger in her eye. She learned a lesson in Karma as she was crying for an hour.
After dinner, the girls had fun in the shooting gallery. You had to try to shoot the monsters with a laser gun.
That evening, we returned to Palo Duro canyon to watch the Texas Outdoor Musical. It is a live musical performed in the canyon. It was incredible and all of us listed it as the favorite part of our trip. The actors were wonderful, the songs beautiful and the scenery was amazing.
We got amazing seats since we bought them way back in March. If you go, the front three rows can't see due to the stage. We decided even one more row back would have been better so we weren't looking quite as far up. It was a sold out show so buy tickets early!

The next morning, we went to Cadillac Ranch before heading out to Colorado. This is a weird art exhibit from the 70's where people go to spray paint their names on the old cars that were stuck in the ground.
