We went to the Fort Worth Zoo yesterday. We had a great time. The weather was absolutely beautiful. 77 degrees and sunny. Unfortunately, since the weather was perfect and it was spring break, most of the rest of Texas was also there, but still we had a great time.
This was Theo's first trip to the zoo in the US. The only other time we have been to a zoo as a family was in India. There were a few differences. For instance, the animals here did not looks starved. Then there was the bat cage. Here, they were behind glass. There, you could walk thru a cave full of bats flying above your head. Kind of creepy. Here, the lions slept peacefully. There, for 50 rupees ($1), the lionkeeper went and poked him with a stick to wake him up and make him roar. Here, the crocodiles were safely tucked away in a cage. There, walking a path to the bathrooms, we realized if we slipped down the slope, we would land in the crocodile den and wind up as lunch. On the upside, we got to ride the elephant in India.
The Fort Worth Zoo is really awesome. It has so many animals and a fun Texas village. Katie especially enjoyed seeing the Bald Eagle she had learned about in school.
