The girls pestered me until I finally gave in and we hosted a Halloween party. It turned out to be lots of fun!
We added a few decorations to enhance the movie.
Grandpa and Grandma were lots of help with the haunted laboratory and helping serve food!
Everyone got a turn in the photo booth.
Katie totally photobombed me!
We had a contest for the most Halloweeny food! I got a few shots before the kids ate it all!
We had a couple of girls who were made for each other.
Lots of cats,
Vampires,
and witches.
After dinner, we did a costume parade and then held the Costume Awards.
The votes were close, but the winners were:
One of our kitties for the prettiest costume,
The werewolf easily took the prize for scariest,
and the duck dynasty girl took the prize for the funniest.
This little kitty won the prize for neatest side dish - she brought yummy mummy pizzas
and the little Indian girl won for best dessert with her awesome cupcakes.
After the awards we went outside and broke into teams. They had to work together to wrap everyone up as mummies in toilet paper. They had so much fun with this game.
It really got tricky when they had to wrap up the last person!
After, they had as much fun playing with the toilet paper as they did wrapping each other up.
Finally, it was dark enough to go through the haunted laboratory. I wish I had gotten some video! The girls were told I needed to use some of their life - a year at the most - to give life to my monster. They went in and touched the monster's different body parts - brains, ears, eyes, heart (all made from noodles, vegetables, etc.). Once in a while a hand (Katie was suspiciously missing) reached out from under the table grabbed them. Then as they turned to leave, the monster (Grandpa had also mysteriously disappeared) roared and grabbed them from the couch. Just as they recovered from that, a maniacal clown (don't know where she could have come from) chased them from the room.
We turned out all the lights and the girls grabbed a flashlight and a partner and played sardines for awhile. Then we finally settled down to watch The Birds and finish off the evening.
