For our annual HOA meeting, we had one of Collin County master gardeners speak. She was so amazing we decided to use her landscaping company to update our yard. It had been getting very overgrown and scraggly looking and we still had to replace that tree that died. The pool yard was the worst, because I couldn't even get around the bushes to clean it anymore.
They did a fantastic job and it looks like it will be beautiful this summer. I was really sad seeing all the bushes go, especially the gorgeous Texas sage. However, every time we trimmed them, we wound up with more and more branches and fewer leaves. She had them replaced with a variety that will be much bushier and won't get so scraggly looking. Right now, it looks kind of bare, but I can't wait to see it this summer as everything fills in and those new bushes start to grow. I'm sure by next summer it's going to be amazing!
Before: The front looked pretty good before, but they made a few changes to the bushes and it will look much more symmetrical and organized. Whenever we lost a plant, I would just throw in there whatever looked pretty at Lowe's so it was starting to look pretty jumbled.
After: They moved around some bushes, saving us money by using what we have, and added a row of Indian Hawthorne across the front.
Before: Our live oak tree had turned into a bush.
After: What do you know, there was a tree hiding in there.
Before: Here was our big problem. The whole pool area was so over grown and scraggly. The sages had taken over everything.
This is the "pathway" I used to have to squeeze in between the spidery overgrown bushes to clean the pool. Also, I love the hole from where Theo started to repair the pool and never finished it.
After: It looks kind of bare right now, but I can't wait until summer because it's going to be beautiful when it fills in and the perennials come back.
I absolutely love the stepping stone path around the pool! It will make cleaning so easy!
You can't really see them in the picture but along the pathway, there are perennials that will look pretty soon.
Once it warms up, I'll add in our hibiscus to this bed. It's still too cold for them.
They wanted to put a Magnolia tree beside the house to cover the large blank wall, which would have looked beautiful, but we still have dreams of a gazebo back there someday so we decided to wait on that.
Before: The backyard still looked pretty good from when we had done the bedding a few years ago. They replaced some plants that had died, trimmed the trees and added a Rose of Sharon by the shed to hide the ugly wall, not to mention the giant dent in it.
After:
Can't wait to see this Rose of Sharon bloom. They are one of my favorites!
They added this oak tree to replace the Lace Bark Elm that died. I loved that tree, but they said this one does better here.
I am so glad we hired this done. They did a great job, and the yard looks planned now instead of haphazard. It took 5 men about 5 hours to complete it. It would have taken so many weekends for Theo and I to accomplish it. They took so many wheel barrels full of mulch that I lost count. And just look at the huge pile of clippings they had going!
